“Can Genetic test help me determine if I have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes?” this question is common in a lot of individuals who are probably going to take a DNA test for determining any possible health risks and people who love sweets and can’t imagine a life without it.

Diabetes has affected approximately 537 million adults across the globe and occurs when your blood glucose level is too high. Sometimes your body doesn’t make enough insulin or faces troubles while using the insulin. This insulin is created by your pancreas and regulates blood sugar levels. As a result, the blood sugar or glucose doesn’t reach your cells and stays in the bloodstream hence causing diabetes.

Genetic Test

A lot of people think that if a genetic test can tell about so many heart and genetic related disorders, it can predict the higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes as well. But, it is a lot more complex than you think because other than genes, type 2 diabetes depends on many other factors like your lifestyle, habits, etc.

Other than that high blood sugar can be caused by a lot of genes instead of a single gene. And the information about all those genes is unknown to the scientist. They might be able to predict something using Legal DNA test but again due to incomplete information they might end up wrong.

Genetic Test

And even if your genes are strong but you don’t exercise and consume sweets on daily basis you might be at a higher risk of acquiring diabetes than a person who has poor genes but exercises regularly and consumes a healthy diet.
